Equine Management

The Equine Centre

The equestrian centre at Askham Bryan College was opened by Christopher Bartle in 2003. It was purpose built to provide stabling and related facilities to support the equine courses offered by the college.

There is stabling for over 30 horses, and two arenas – the indoor school (60 x 30m) and the outdoor school (60 x 25m). The Equestrian centre also includes cross-country training facilities and turnout for horses as well as classrooms feed rooms, tack rooms and other support facilities.

The Horses

Askham Bryan College owns some of the horses at the equestrian centre. The others on working livery or long term loan to the college. The horses range from 14.2hh to 17.2hh and suit a whole variety of riders – from novice to more advanced riders. All the horses are used for both riding and practical stable management tuition.

The Staff

Our team of teaching and support staff have a background of working with horses, specializing in a range of equestrian subjects. They are trained and qualified to high standards in order to help you develop your own practical and academic skills. The staff at the equine centre are friendly and approachable and can help you make a career out of your love of the equestrian life.
