Floristry

Floristry touches lives in many forms, either as a gift for a friend, a new baby or in showing respect for the passing of a close friend or relative.  Floristry is a diverse and expanding sector, offering a fascinating and dynamic career that combines creative skills with specialist technical abilities.

Askham Bryan College offers unique specialist facilities for floristry training. At the York campus there is a self contained floristry unit, ample classrooms and other facilities.  We also run floristry courses at our centres at Guisborough and Harrogate. Our team of skilled professional, work-based industry trained lecturers are committed to transferring their skills and experience to all our learners.

Our classrooms provide dedicated space for cut flower identification and conditioning and provide large practical areas for arranging flowers.  The department is regularly involved with external projects and frequently competes in national floristry competitions. We were recently involved in the North of England Horticulture show at Harrogate and won a Gold medal and took two awards for Best in Show.

The floristry department is committed to continuing professional development and is widely involved with UK/World skills competitions and training development.
