The group spent the day willow coppicing at Mr & Mrs Corrigan’s Eastfield farm. The farm has 3 x 25 acre sections of short rotation coppice, when harvested this is sold as fuel to the Sembcorp Biomass power station. The coppice provides a home for a wide range of wildlife, which ties in nicely with the student’s college work where they study First Diploma, National Diploma and Foundation degree courses in Animal Management at Askham Bryan Guisborough Centre.
The group really enjoyed their day and are looking forward to further projects with Tees Valley Wildlife Trust. When interviewed students said the y had enjoyed the day and expressed surprise at the range of work undertaken by the Tees Valley Wildlife Trust
