Our £1.5m investment at Westfield Farm

The College farm extends to 174 hectares. We farm an additional 200 hectares of arable crops at Headley Hall Farm in conjunction with the University of Leeds. We have recently invested heavily in our farm to provide you with great resources for both practical work and the study of agriculture and food production.

The Dairy Unit

  • Herd of 169 Holsteins
  • Raid exit milking parlour

The Centre of Vocational Excellence in Food Chain Technology

  • Food Chain Technology Centre
  • Retail sales of meat and cheese

The National Beef Training Centre

  • Cattle housing, handling system and demonstration area
  • Cattle sourced from the College's own dairy herd and from suckler herds (UK and continental breeds)

Arable Farming and Sheep

  • Mixed arable and livestock system
  • Arable cropping: cereals including maize, oilseed rape and potatoes
  • Grassland
  • Flock of 250 mule ewes and their replacements
  • Short rotation coppice willow area
