This programme involves a suite of qualifications that make up the award of Advanced Apprenticeship, including NVQ Level 3, Technical Certificate, Key Skills (Level 1), Emergency First Aid and two other legislative tests. You will attend College on a day release basis.
NVQ level 3 options include dairy production, beef production, sheep production, mixed farming, pig production, poultry production or crop production
To qualify for LSC funding, you must start the programme before your 25th birthday.
Successful students may be able to use this qualification to progress to degree-level studies such as the Foundation Degree in Agriculture. Many successful students are offered permanent employment at their place of work as an agricultural worker whilst others seek similar employment in other businesses.
Three GCSEs at grade C or above, or a suitable level 2 qualification (eg, an Apprenticeship or First Diploma in Agriculture. You must also have a genuine interest and commitment to the agricultural industry.
To take an Advanced Apprenticeship you need a work placement that allows you to participate in a minimum of 22 hours of work each week. This work must relate directly to the NVQ you are completing as you will need to gather evidence to prove your competence. It is expected that your role within the business will have a certain amount of responsibility.
