Main features

Incorporating the National Award, this is a balanced programme that combines theory with practical skills. One day each week is spend working in industry. There is also the opportunity to spend an optional year working in the industry in paid employment (we can help you to find a work placement if required). Visits are made to major agricultural events and local agricultural businesses. 

After successfully completing the course you can progress to a Foundation Degree in Agriculture, Countryside Management, Land Management or equivalent land-based qualifications. You may also be able to access the first year of land-based degree programmes. Career opportunities include employment at technical grade in the agricultural industry, eg as tractor driver, herdsperson etc.

Entry requirements

You will usually need at least 4 GCSEs at grade C or above (normally with English and mathematics at a minimum of grade D) or an equivalent level 2 qualifications such as a First Diploma or NVQ Level 2 in a relevant subject.
