This course provides an introduction to subjects such as fault diagnosis, essential working practices, electrical systems, layout and operation of vehicle systems, repairs and component removal and refitting. There are also additional modules choices including motorsport.
After successfully completing the course you can progress to a National Diploma in Land-Based Technology. Career opportunities include employment as a land-based service engineer, farm mechanic, automotive mechanic or fast-fit operative, or progression to workshop manager or self-employment.
You will usually need at least 4 GCSEs at grade E or above, including mathematics and a science (or equivalent qualifications). Entry at age 16-18 is preferred although other groups are not excluded.
