Main features

This Unit covers the use of the chainsaw and/or other pruning tools and lowering equipment working from a rope and harness in conjunction with a ground person in medium sized open grown trees. 

Candidates must hold CS Units 30, 31, 38 (climb trees and perform aerial rescue) and 39 to attend this course.

Course Content: 

  • Identify key parts of the equipment to be used
  • Prepare the equipment for use with emphasis on safety
  • Learn about the structure, condition and properties of the trees to be worked on
  • Use a chainsaw and other pruning tools whilst maintaining a working position within the crown of a tree using a rope and harness in conjunction with ground staff
