Main features

This course is designed for those who anticipate seeking contractual work in professional forestry, amenity or utility arboricultural activities which is likely either immediately or at some future date to involve felling trees with a diameter at felling height of between 380 mm (15") and 760 mm (30").  This training can lead to assessment in the relevant NPTC CS Units.  Our instructors have considerable experience and are registered with the National Proficiency Test Council. 

Candidates must hold CS Units 30 and 31 to attend this course.

Course Content: 

  • Carry out risk assessments – use of protective clothing and correct equipment
  • Fell medium sized trees with a diameter at felling height of between 380 mm (15") and 760 mm (30")
  • Sned and/or de-limb medium sized trees
  • Crosscut stems
  • Select winching equipment for taking down medium sized trees
  • Take down a hung-up medium sized tree with a winch
