Main features

This is a practical programme that combines the opportunity of working within the tree-works industry and some College attendance. Most of your training takes place in the workplace, though some College attendance is required, usually around one week per month. The programme is usually completed in around 12 months, depending on College study which runs from September to July each year. After the programme you can progress to the National Certificate in Arboriculture or National Diploma in Forestry and Arboriculture, depending on your qualifications and experience.
Once they have successfully completed the programme, many students remain employed at their work placement or go on to other tree surgery companies or local authorities. Some aim to start their own businesses after further training.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements. A work placement is required for the full duration of the course (we can assist in finding this). Satisfactory references are required.
