Main features

This course provides vocationally based study to train first-line managers for the horticultural industry. Its main focus is the production and marketing of plants from propagation to the raising of plants for the market or use in the landscape. Both years of the course will include relevant work experience which is supported with assistance from your tutor. All modules provide a balance of practical work and scientific knowledge.

Students who successfully complete this Foundation Degree at an appropriate level have the opportunity to progress to the BSc (Hons) Sustainable Land Management and obtain their Honours Degree after only one additional year of study (studying full-time) at Askham Bryan College.

There are career opportunities at managerial levels within a broad range of organisations such as local park departments, nurseries, botanical gardens and production nurseries (including nursery stock, bedding plant production and herbaceous nurseries)

This degree is validated and awarded by Harper Adams University College.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above, or BTEC First Diploma with a minimum of 20 points plus a minimum of 80 UCAS points including study of 2 GCSE/VCE A levels to A2 or a BTEC National Diploma, may include Key Skills at level 2 or above plus a satisfactory reference.

Equivalent qualifications may be considered.

If you do not have these qualifications, you should consider the Extended Foundation Degree Introductory Year which will provide you with the necessary skills and entry requirements.
