Main features

This course provides vocationally based study to train first-line managers for the landscape and garden management industries where there is currently a shortage of suitable qualified staff.

The course has two pathways, allowing you to specialise in either Management or Design.

All modules provide a balance of practical and scientific knowledge.

Both years of the course include relevant work experience which is supported by assistance from your tutor.

Students who successfully complete this Foundation Degree at an appropriate level have the opportunity to progress to the BSc (Hons) Sustainable Land Management and obtain their Honours Degree after only one additional year of study (studying full-time) at Askham Bryan College.

There are career opportunities at managerial levels within a broad range of organisations such as local park departments, botanical gardens, private gardens, English Heritage or the National Trust.

This degree is validated and awarded by Harper Adams University College.

[You can study the Plant Knowledge module of this course on Friday afternoons for 17 weeks starting on 1 February 2008. For details please return to the Horticulture courses section and choose 'Plant Knowledge (Foundation Degree Module)']
