Department: Landscape Construction
This is a practical Open College Network course, covering the important features of a safe working area, minimising health hazards in the work area and understanding the reasons for an appropriate sub-base and adequate drainage. You will also learn how to cut blocks and produce consistent bonds, and recognise the different effects produced.
You will need steel toe capped or strong work boots. A digital camera is useful to collect evidence for your portfolio.
The cost of the course is £360 + £35 registration fee.
You may also wish to consider the OCN Brickwork course. After this course you could progress to other horticultural related OCN courses or City and Guilds Certificate in Gardening. You may also wish to consider a full time horticultural course.
