Sports Surface & Greenkeeping
Sport is one of the biggest recreational activities in the country. The majority of sports are played on grassed or artificial surfaces which require high levels of maintenance so a team can compete on the surface. If you participate in sports you will realise that these facilities are purpose-built, but do you realise how much work goes into their upkeep?If you have a keen interest in sports surfaces and their upkeep then Askham Bryan can offer you a range of qualifications depending on your previous experience and knowledge.
Our Specialist Facilities
At Askham Bryan College we have numerous facilities for you to play on and maintain. There are football and rugby pitches, 5-a-side pitches, a cricket pitch, par 3 golf course and a hockey pitch. The college is also developing a new golf facility which aims to involve the students in the construction process.
In our fully resourced Learning Centre you will find a wide range of books and periodicals. We also have laboratories for soil testing and analysis and a wide range of turf machinery and recently. Recent links with Leeds Rugby Ltd will give our students a unique opportunity for the development of practical skills on an international standard playing surface.
