Main features

This is an ideal qualification if you want to increase your technical and scientific understanding of the turf grass environment. You will gain the knowledge and understanding of the management of a wide range of Sports Turf Surfaces.

FdSc SSM is a great progression from `A’ Levels or if you have a relevant qualification at Level 3. Of course if you have been working in the industry for some time and have no formal qualifications but feel it is now time to gain a higher level qualification we look at all applications on an individual basis. It can be completed as a full- time course which takes 2 years, or on a part time basis which takes up to 3 years.

If you successfully complete this qualification at an appropriate level you will have the opportunity to progress to the BSc (Hons) Sustainable Land Management and obtain your honours degree after only additional year of study. You could also progress to other honours degree programmes in a related subject.

Part time starts 24 September 2009 Price £600

Entry requirements

A minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grace C or above, or a BTEC First Diploma with a minimum of 20 points; plus a minimum of 80 UCAS points (which may include Key Skills at level 2 or above) including study of 2 A levels to A2 level, or a BTEC National Diploma; plus a satisfactory reference. Equivalent qualifications may be considered.

If you do not have these qualifications you should consider the Introductory Years of the Extended Foundation Degree in Horticulture which will give you the necessary skills to continue the Foundation Degree in your second and third years of study.
