The BSc/BSc (Hons) Equine Science & Management (top-up) programme has been designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to enter the equine industry. This programme integrates knowledge and skills that can be applied to a wide range of areas within the equine industry. On this programme there is an emphasis on science. The equine industry continues to develop and therefore the need for employees with appropriate technical knowledge and skills continues to evolve. The programme will provide students with the opportunity to develop the specific knowledge, practical and technical skills fundamental to working in the equine industry. The key scientific and business management principles will be covered. This one year course will give students the opportunity to apply existing skills and newly learned knowledge to a variety of industry relevant situations, thereby preparing for work and more advanced study. As part of the honours pathway students will be required to undertake a research project, giving them an opportunity to focus for a prolonged period of time on a subject of particular interest with possibilities of publication.

Assessments will be designed to give students the opportunity of performing tasks that they would be asked to do in employment. There are a range of assessment methods used, including reports, case studies, presentations, Viva -Voce, continual assessments and exams. Typically each module involves two assessments.
In Course Costs
Students are typically provided with the opportunity to take part in international study tours to a variety of locations.Course PPE is required for lab and practicals on Behaviour and Nutrition modules.

We welcome external applications with advanced standing and accreditation of prior learning (APEL) which will be discussed upon application.
*Entry to these undergraduate programmes have an expectation of 5 GCSEs at Level 4 or above in English, Maths and Science. Applicants without formal qualifications can undertake an initial assessment process. Prospective students will be invited to an applicant day, some students may also be called for an interview.
After the Course
Students studying the course may enter a wide variety of roles in the industry as scientific researchers, nutrition, medical technology and diagnostics, behavioural and welfare and ethical spheres amongst others. Many students progress to higher level study.
