Overview

Our Introduction to navigation course is ideal for someone wanting to develop skills in this area. The ability to be able to navigate and always know where you are is both crucial in staying safe and extremely satisfying.

Description

The course will be matched to your requirements and any previous experience can be further developed. On arrival a discussion about what you want to get out of the course, as well as:

  • Issue equipment and travel to venue
  • Reading Maps
  • Taking Bearings With A Compass
  • Using Grid References
  • Understanding Symbols & Contours
  • Using Different Scale Maps
  • Solid feedback outlining your next steps in navigation
  • There are no pre-requisites for this course and is available/suitable for anyone aged 16 upwards.

Equipment Required

Must Have:

  • Baselayer
  • Fleece(s) - depending on weather conditions
  • Waterproofs
  • Walking boots
  • Rucksack
  • Food, drink and a flask
  • Wristwatch
  • Hat
  • Gloves
