Level 3 Apprenticeship Trees and Timber

Overview

We offer courses that specialise in tree surgery practices (Arboriculture), which is the science and practice of producing and managing trees and shrubs in both urban and rural locations. To support learning we have extensive facilities including fantastic tree collection and access to woodland gardens and native woodlands. We also have excellent laboratory facilities, maintenance workshops and specialist industry equipment. This sector offers you the opportunity to gain essential skills in exciting and challenging areas such as chainsaw use and learning to climb trees to a professional standard, while also gaining underpinning knowledge on tree and plant biology as well as woodland management.

Description

This course comprises of on-the-job training at your place of work with some college-based study scheduled throughout the year.  This Apprenticeship and Level 3 Work-Based Diploma offers course themes such as tree hazard surveying and pests and diseases, aerial tree pruning and rigging, medium tree felling, assisted felling operations, Health and Safety and aerial rescue refreshers. English and Maths will be required where applicable.

Entry Requirements

You will have successfully completed a Level 2 qualification or have considerable work experience in this field with a 002108 (formerly Chainsaw From Rope and Harness – CS39) qualification. You will need to be an established member in a work placement, with the intentions of progressing into leadership roles.
