City and Guilds Higher Diploma (ICSF) Level 4 Floristry
This course is aimed at ambitious and experienced florists who want to progress to develop their skills in floristry techniques and business management. Due to the assignments within the course learners must be working in the industry in some capacity either employed or self-employed.
Students will learn a diverse range of floristry techniques on this seventeen-month course, which runs from September and ends the next January.
Based at our York Campus this course comprises of a single day in College per week during term time with some timetabled blocks, including time around the Spring Harrogate Flower Show. Learners therefore have the opportunity to compete at one of the biggest flower shows in Great Britain.
The course content consists of botanical concepts and practices for floristry, business practices for floristry, design concepts for floristry, floral event practices, historical studies for floristry, marketing and promotion practices for floristry and technical floristry skills including designs in mediums, design trends, tied designs, wired and glued designs.
The course is assessed at the end of January by one written and one practical examination.
Applicants must have a Level 3 qualification or relevant industry experience.
Successful students could go on to study a Level 5 qualification in a related subject area.
