Level 2 Sport and Public Services Study Programme (Outdoor Adventure Pathway)

Overview

The main qualification element achieved from this study programme will be a Level 2 in Bushcraft Studies. The Outdoor Adventure pathway offers the opportunity to develop skills within an outdoor environment including focusing on the skills required to lead activity sessions; including planning, execution and reviewing. It paves the way for further study at Level 3 or employment within the sports industry. This Level 2 study programme gives learners the chance to seek progression to employment, further study or voluntary opportunities. The programme covers leadership skills, motivation, time management, team work and the chance to improve individual fitness.

Description

The course combines both theory and practical work, spending at least one day per week in the outdoors putting that theory into practice, activities may include some of the following: canoeing, mountain biking, kayaking, rock climbing, ropes courses, orienteering and mountain walking.  There is continual assessment throughout the course.

Your learning will be through a mix of both practical and classroom sessions and you will have the opportunity to gain experience and develop skills in a number of different outdoor activities. You will also have the opportunity to go on College excursions which may include activities such as surfing in Cornwall and mountaineering in Snowdonia. 

Entry Requirements

Normally four GCSEs at grade E or above (new GCSE grading at level 3).

Further Study

After successful completion of this course you may be able to progress to the Level 3 courses Diploma in Sport (Outdoor Adventure), Uniformed Public Services or Sport (Development, Coaching and Fitness).
