Askham Bryan College celebrates apprentices during National Apprenticeship Week
On Tuesday night, Askham Bryan College Apprenticeship programme highlighted the achievements of its apprentice students, company partners and apprenticeship tutors at its Apprenticeship Star Awards. Recognition was given to students for their exceptional work, employers for their extraordinary participation with the programme, and staff for their exceptional teaching. The event ran during National Apprenticeship Week (3-9 February 2020) which celebrates the impact of apprenticeships on individuals, employers and the economy.
Lindsey Wedgewood, Head of Apprenticeships at Askham Bryan College, says, “Our apprenticeship programmes continue to grow year-on-year in line with employer requirements in the land-based and construction sectors. Apprentices are prepared with the right skills, knowledge and qualifications to progress and be successful in their chosen industries. The combination of committed students, dedicated tutors and enthusiastic employers who invest in their apprentice makes our programme a success.”
Speedy Services was recognised as a ‘Star Employer’ for their work with our Construction Plant Maintenance Apprentices.
Gillian Roberts, Careers Manager at Speedy Services, says, “Apprenticeships are vital to ensure everyone has the opportunity to gain qualifications and pursue a career following a pathway that suits them as an individual. We are proud to work with Askham Bryan College in developing our Engineering Apprentices as they play a vital role in helping Speedy provide safe, reliable hire equipment to enable the successful delivery of our customers’ projects.”
Thirteen apprentices from a range of study areas including construction plant maintenance, veterinary nursing, equine, land-based service engineering, agriculture, horticulture and sports turf were awarded stars for their work.
