Apprenticeship Week Profile: Annie Hambrook

Date: 6th March 2019

Annie Hambrook gained her Level 2 and Level 3 Apprenticeships whilst working at Team Marsden Eventing based at Somerford Park Farm, Cheshir a team run by John Marsden and Duncan Smith who have horses competing from BE90 up to Five star.

Annie gained valuable experience whilst on her apprenticeship being part of the team that cared for a number of competition horses including successful Glengarnock at both Badminton and Burghley Horse Trials.

She has now moved on to work for Tom McEwen who is an International Event Rider ranked in the Top 20 in the UK and is based at Gatcombe Park home to the Princess Royal and where Zara Tindall’s event team (Princess Anne’s daughter) is also based.

Annie’s days are now spent caring for Tom’s horses including doing road work and fast work on them as they prepare for the 2019 season. She has fitted in with the rest of Tom’s team really well and has the added bonus of having John and Duncan at the end of the phone for support.

Indeed it was John who explained to her the protocol that she needed to know if she was to bump into the Princess Royal whilst working at Gatcombe. John competed against Princess Anne many years ago and was also on teams with her when she competed herself.
