Askham Bryan College receives MOD award

Askham Bryan College has been granted the Ministry of Defence’s Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Silver Award for the delivery of the Combined Cadet Force (CCF), which is part of the college’s Uniformed Public Services programme.  The CCF is an educational partnership between the college and the Ministry of Defence. The award recognises the college’s pledge, demonstration, support and advocacy of defence services and the armed forces community.

Dr Tim Whitaker, CEO and Principal, Askham Bryan College, said, “We are so pleased to have received this recognised achievement from the MoD.  We continue to develop our Uniformed Public Services courses so that the lessons, skills and preparation are current and in line with the expected standards of the armed forces.  We are very proud of all the students who graduate from the course and the work they go on to do for their local communities and country.”

Pauline King, Assistant Regional Employer Engagement Director, Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association Yorkshire & Humber, said, “As a forces-friendly employer and Combined Cadet Force, we are delighted that Askham Bryan College has been granted the 2020 ERS Silver Award for their support and commitment to the Armed Forces community. The College has demonstrated how well it has turned commitment into reality by introducing many supportive measures, by collaborating with military units and by offering young people a broad range of challenging, adventurous and educational activities.”

The college will be presented with the award in late September.
