JUMPING INTO THE FESTIVE SPIRIT WITH STUDENT MANAGED EQUINE CHRISTMAS SHOW
Date: 8th December 2017
As the College nears the end of its first term, the equine department is lifting spirits across campus with its very own Christmas Show managed entirely by students.
The day-long event started with a spectacular fancy dress presentation, which saw ten learners from both riding and non-riding pathways dress to impress the judges in their most flamboyant festive gear. Following the judging, which placed four of the learners with ribbons, show jumping enthusiasts took part in a sparkling contest to demonstrate their skills to an audience of staff and students.
Organised and managed by the College’s Foundation Degree (FdSc) Equine Business Management students, the Christmas Show was not only a fantastic festivity to celebrate the end of term, but excellent practical experience.
Guy Brewer, Equine Department and Commercial Manager at the College, said: “Our Foundation Degree students have done a fantastic job managing the Equine Christmas Show from start to finish. The event saw learners from all pathways have the opportunity to join in the fun, which is fantastic for the department’s community and staff and students from across campus enjoyed the show.”
Students with their own horses had the option of bringing them in to participate in the Christmas Show, which worked as further practice for learners who will be eventing in the New Year.
