Payments

At the point of applying for accommodation you must pay a £300 security bond. This fee is converted into the deposit which is used to pay for any damages, unpaid fees or losses incurred by Askham Bryan College during the occupation of the room. If you are a returning student who has previously paid a Bond, this will be carried over from the current year.

Your accommodation fee will then be split into 9 equal installments; the first installment will be due on or before 24th August 2018, keys will not be released unless payment has been made. This amount can be paid online (follow the link on the website), by card over the phone or by cash at the Finance Office, York. The remaining 8 installments can then be paid by Direct Debit from October to May.

Ways to Pay

Students can pay the accommodation fee in one of two ways:

Total amount in advance

Or

9 equal installments: First to be made before 24th August 2018 and remaining 8 installments then paid by Direct Debit from October to May.

By signing the accommodation agreement the student or parent / guardian/ guarantor undertakes to pay the published charges for accommodation, it is therefore important to read the terms and conditions of the agreement before signing it.  For those struggling to pay the full accommodation fee there are Residential Grants and Scholarships available which are assessed on a combination of household income and student ability, for details please see the Scholarships page or call Student Support Services on 01904 772201 and ask to speak to the Student Finance and Welfare Officer for more information.

Leaving Accommodation

If students withdraw from accommodation before the end of the academic year they will be required to give six weeks’ notice during which time rent remains payable. Notice must be given in writing to the Accommodation Office and keys must be returned at the end of the six week period if not before.
If you are in receipt of a Residential Grant or Scholarship and decide to withdraw from accommodation, the grant will cease to be paid.
