During the Coronavirus outbreak, the College have been monitoring government guidance daily and responding to the ever changing situation. As you are aware, recent news indicates that schools and colleges are being asked to prepare to invite some students back into college.
We are currently assessing which students and apprentices are likely to be invited into college and this will largely be to undertake an assessment on a needs only basis. Therefore, unless specifically requested to attend one of our college campuses, students are not being asked to return to sites at this moment in time. Please note: if you are invited to attend a session from June 8th onwards, please note that accommodation and transport are not being provided to students.
Going forward, we are approaching the end of the academic year and following on from Ofqual guidance to schools and colleges on how we should secure grades and award qualifications for students, we are in process of working with our partners and Awarding Organisations to prepare evidence for final submission.
If you have any questions around this process, please contact your course manager in the first instance. Please be aware that in line with requirements, qualification outcomes will be released on the published dates in August as per usual. Further information regarding resits etc. will be discussed with individual students in the normal manner on return to college at the end of the summer. Formal teaching and learning is now coming to an end and staff are uploading final outcomes to Awarding Organisations.
Our plans for the final few weeks after half term are as follows:
- End of year appraisals will take place to complete reviews and discuss progression options
- Summer project work will be set to support returning and progressing students back into learning in preparation for the autumn term.
If you have been a residential student and left belongings on site at lockdown, will write to you shortly to advise on individual arrangements for collection/return of those items. If it is appropriate for you to collect items, this will be on an appointment basis.
Details of how to keep yourself safe and well are available on Moodle and are regularly updated. If you require support, advice and/or guidance on any issue concerning your wellbeing, then please contact Student Services If you have any questions then do look at the Frequently Asked Questions section on our website as much advice and guidance is available there and if you have any questions which cannot be answered via the FAQs, please contact your course manager.
Thank you for your continued hard work and above all, stay safe and well.
