In order to meet the demand of an ever growing Dog Grooming Industry, Askham Bryan College have remapped our Dog Grooming Courses to cater for two different pathways which are outlined below. These courses have been constructed so that we can best provide for our clients needs and so that we can ensure we have the right dogs here to facilitate learning.

PET DOG GROOMING
This course is aimed at pet dog owners who wish to learn the basics of dog grooming at home, whether that is taking full responsibility for grooming your own dog or just learning to maintain your dogs coat between appointments with a groomer.
The course covers how to use scissors and clippers, coat grooming styling requirements, coat condition maintenance, demonstration of safe and effective routines for health checks, general brushing, bathing and drying as well as ear and nail care.
Please note that you may not be able to bring a dog to every class. It would be advisable to purchase a pair of safety glasses in advance of the course.

GATEWAY TO PROFESSIONAL GROOMING
This course is aimed at the aspiring professional groomer. If you plan to begin your career as a groomer we can give you a full introduction to the modules covered in a Professional Qualification. If you are looking to build your experience with coat types, temperaments or handling, we can help you build on current experience. If you are applying for a City and Guilds L2 but would like to improve your practical skills prior to interview, we can help you shine!
Our facilities and client list allow us to give you a realistic insight into the modules covered by Professional Qualifications and to the day to day life as a Dog Groomer.

Notice: Although this course is directed at those that are progressing into a career in grooming, it is not a validated Professional Qualification.
The course will be certificated “in house” but only to certify attendance and references can be given for learners that are applying for professional qualifications based on that attendance.
It will serve as an ideal preparation for a fully accredited course.
