This course will help you develop knowledge about the systems and structures of the horse and how the horse’s body responds to exercise, injury and rehabilitation.
You will learn about key business management skills and issues facing the equine industry today. Additionally, you will benefit from being able to develop your practical and horse husbandry skills within a British Horse Society approved training centre.

For admission to Foundation Degree courses students must have achieved grade C/4 or above in a minimum of five GCSE subjects including English, Mathematics and Science or have passed suitable equivalents. In addition, for admission onto FdSc programmes, students must have achieved a pass grade in a minimum of one ‘A2’ level subject (or equivalent) or have successfully completed an Extended/ National Diploma in a relevant subject area. Using the UCAS tariff system, a typical offer for admission to the FdSc would be a minimum 48 UCAS points*.
Some students will be invited to attend an interview at Askham Bryan College and places will be subject to a satisfactory reference. Equivalent qualifications may be considered.

We welcome external applications with advanced standing and accreditation of prior learning (APEL) which will be discussed upon application.
Students may progress onto the one-year Top Up route to the BSc (Hons) Degree in Equine Science and Management.
