Motorsport Engineering Level 3
A one year programme with a broad introduction to vehicle technology and motorsport at a more advanced level, including working practices, to prepare you for work or degree level study.
You will work on a variety of vehicles and vehicle systems and cover topics such as the operation of vehicle chassis systems, fault diagnosis and rectification, a vehicle technology project, motorsport workshop practices, motorsport vehicle preparation and inspection, professional practice and logistics, engine principles, the operation, service and repair of vehicles, vehicle science and mathematics, electrical and electronic principles, charging and starting systems, petrol injection systems, electronic ignition systems and vehicle engine management systems. This will give you a good grounding of the skills required to enter work in the motorsport and motor vehicle industries.

You will need to have successfully completed a Level 2 Motor Vehicle or Engineering qualification* plus at least 4 GCSEs at grade C or above (new GCSE grading levels 4 to 9) to include any 2 from English, Maths and Science with at least a grade D in the remaining subject. Alternatively a suitable Level 2 vocational qualification (Merit or above) with English and Maths at Level 2.
*student without such a qualification will be required to study the Level 2 Motorsport qualification prior to moving to the Level 3.
Following successful completion of this course you could proceed to study at degree level in a related subject.
