I have applied to the college - what happens next?
Your potential course manager will be in touch for an informal telephone interview. This will take place shortly after you have submitted an application form. We will text the mobile number you have given us with confirmation of your interview date and time. Please keep your phone with you and expect a call from 'No caller ID'/ a withheld number.
Can I still attend an open event?
Open events are also available and running on a virtual basis - Visit the Whats-On page for more details on the events
What is it like to be a student at ABC?
If you have any questions - take a virtual stroll around your campus via our website. You can find out about many different aspects such as student services, the student union, mental health and wellbeing coordinators, accommodation, transport and finance via our links.
How do I apply for accommodation for next year?
All applications for accommodation will be via an online application process and this is now live on the website.
What is the status of work placements?
Work placements and work experience plays an important part in the vocational courses we offer at the college.
Many of the qualifications we offer have a mandatory element of work placement with a set number of hours that students need to achieve in order to be successful on their qualification.
Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, we know that finding a placement might be more challenging than usual. We are working with the relevant Awarding Bodies to ensure that students are not disadvantaged on their qualification in September.
Students will be introduced to the Work Placement Co-ordinators at the start of their course to support students when exploring and securing placements.
2020/21 Fees for tuition:
· If you think you may be entitled to a fee waiver due to your personal circumstances (e.g. low income or 1st qualification entitlement etc.) this should be confirmed by our Student Records team otherwise the standard course fee will apply.
· If you are being supported by a loan (either Student Loan or Advanced Learner Loan) evidence of the loan approval should be available at the point of enrolment.
· If you are being supported by a sponsor (e.g. employer) confirmation in writing providing the full sponsor details and the agreement to pay the fees in full should be provided at the point of enrolment.
UNTIL THE SUPPORTING EVIDENCE REQUESTED IS PROVIDED ALL FEES REMAIN THE PERSONAL LIABILTY OF THE STUDENT.
· If you are paying for your own course fees Finance require a deposit payment equal to 25% of their total course cost at the point of enrolment. A Direct Debit mandate should also be completed at the point of enrolment for the balance of the fees to be collected in 8 equal instalments from October to May.
What is happening regarding my GCSE exam and my grades?
This is a changing situation due to Covid-19, further advice will be available through your schools/college once the Government has released further guidance in regard to the summer 2021 exams.
