This course is a practical hands on course with includes a combination of lecturers and practical activities. The course develops your practical skills and knowledge to the next horticultural level and will allow your progression into the industry such as craft gardener, senior gardener, head gardener/supervisory roles. It is taught one day per week on Fridays 9.15- 2.00pm over the year.

RHS Level 3 Diploma in Horticulture
This qualification is aimed at professional horticulturists seeking to advance their knowledge or move into a management or specialist role. It is also suitable for passionate amateurs with some prior learning and/or experience. It is a highly valued qualification which provides the skills needed to widen opportunities and boost career progression. The RHS Level 3 Diploma consists of three separate qualifications, as outlined below:
- RHS Level 3 Certificate in Practical Horticulture
- RHS Level 3 Certificate in the Principles of Plant Growth, Garden Planning and Applied Propagation
- RHS Level 3 Award in Horticultural Investigation

Key Information
This qualification is delivered via a combination of classroom-based learning and practical tasks. It covers a wide range of advanced horticultural skills including:
- Plant Knowledge
- Creating Planted Areas
- Maintaining Planted Areas
- Plant Health
- Productive Growing
- Protected Growing
- Ecological and Sustainable Plantings
- Landscaping Materials
Please note that for practical courses, learners are required to provide steel toe-capped safety boots, suitable gloves and clothing appropriate to the weather conditions.
Assessment consists of:
- Online Competence Assessment (OCA)
- Practical Competence Assessment (PCA)
