HE Tuition Fees (UK and EU Students)
Most applicants to higher education courses are eligible for loan from the Student Loans Company to cover the full cost of your tuition fees and maintenance costs. There are exceptions to this, in particular students that have already studied a degree under the loans system.
If you are a UK/EU student planning to join us in September 2017 our fees, including part-time study for 2017/18, are summarised in the document at the bottom of this page. Fees for all our courses are reviewed each year in line with Government regulations. For 2017/18 Askham Bryan College will charge a tuition fee of £8,000 per year (Internal students progressing from a two year foundation degree onto BSc Top up will continue to pay the same fee as they started on).
The College offer an application based fund to support those that may find the cost of studying at undergraduate degree level challenging. For details of the application process contact Student Services on 01904772201.
The College welcomes applications from both EU and international students, more information regarding fees can be found in the document at the bottom of this page.
New students can apply to the Student Loans Company (SLC) for to secure their arrangements to finance their studies from January each year. More details around undergraduate degree loans and grants can be found on the Gov.uk website. For a quick guide to student finance explained please see the Student Finance England website. Please do not wait until you have a confirmed place on a course before applying for your loan and grant – simply list the course that you think you are most likely to attend.
Continuing students also need to reapply each year to confirm their request for their loan arrangements. Normally the SLC will contact you directly well in advance to support you in your application. Normally the Student Loans Company will contact returning students around February each year to help you in your planning for the following academic year.
For students that plan to be self-funded or sponsored the College normally expects full fee payment or can agree phased payment through a direct debit arrangement. Normally a deposit of £1500 upon enrolment would be expected to demonstrate your commitment to study, for information specific to international applicants please see our international students section.
The College appreciates that you might be worried that your student loan(s) application may not be processed in time for the start of the academic year of study. We ask that you provide evidence of your Student Loans Company application or set up a direct debit payment plan (commencing in November) to reflect your commitment to study. This direct debit arrangement will be cancelled when the Student Loans Company advise the College that your application is approved.
