At Askham Bryan College we have a huge range of learning opportunities for adults from short courses to degrees!

See below the different options available as well as information on fees and funding support that might be available to you.

 

Further Education

Adults are welcome to apply to our range of further education courses. Level 2 qualifications are equivalent to GCSE level study, Level 3 Qualifications are equivalent to A Level study. We also offer Entry Level and Level 1 qualifications. You can apply through our online application form and we will be able to discuss the right level of study for you at interview.

Degree Level Courses

At University Centre Askham Bryan we offer a range of degrees in animal and agriculture related subjects. If you have already got Level 3 qualifications (A Level / BTEC equivalent) then Higher Education might be for you!

Commercial Courses

If you are already working in the land-based or related industries and are looking for commercial courses or industry โ€˜ticketsโ€™ we offer a range of courses from tractor driving and crop-spraying to chainsaw handling and first aid. Find out more

 

Funding Information for over 19โ€™s

You may be eligible to free courses depending on your individual circumstances. To find out more please contact student.records@askham-bryan.ac.uk

Devolved Area Funding

If you are a student over the age of 19 applying from a devolved area you may be subject to different course fees.ย  Devolved areas around Askham Bryan include: York and North Yorkshire, Greater Manchester, North of Tyne, South Yorkshire, Tees Valley and West Yorkshire.

Advanced Learner Loan

If you are thinking about studying a Level 3 to Level 5 further education course at Askham Bryan College, you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan.

These loans have been introduced by the Government to help you pay for your college tuition fees. From August 2016 most learners aged 19 and over studying at Level 3 and above will qualify.

  • You can take out a loan to pay all your course fees or just part โ€“ itโ€™s your choice
  • Your household income isnโ€™t taken into account and thereโ€™s no credit check
  • The loan goes straight to the college to pay for your fees
  • You will not pay anything back until your income is ยฃ25,000 or over (courses starting on or after 1 August 2023)

How do I Apply for an Advanced Learner Loan?

Please contact Student Records on 01904 772277 before you apply, and request a Learning and Funding Information Letter which will help you complete the application form.

When you have your Learning and Funding Information Letter, you can start your application by completing thisย application formย or go toย Student Finance England.ย
