Veterinary Nursing - Course Manager and Lecturer

What inspired you to pursue a career in your field?

All of my post compulsory education has been centred around animals, their health, behaviour and welfare. I wanted to share my knowledge with students as was once one of them, supporting them into their chosen education path and career.

What do you enjoy most about your role at the college?

I enjoy meeting new people, supporting learners and seeing them do well and achieve.

Areas of Interest and Expertise

My areas of interest and expertise are Veterinary Nursing, Animal Management and Animal Behaviour and Welfare.

What is your favourite animal to work with and why?

My favourite animal to work with are canines as I have worked with them throughout my career and have completed CPD on behaviour and training.

What advice would you give to students looking to succeed in your subject area?

My advice is the course that they have began is intense and will stretch them but with resilience, support off lectures, course managers, clinical supervisors and their Veterinary Practices they can grow into the Veterinary Nurse they aspire to be.

If your students had to describe you in three words, what would they say?

Empathetic, supportive, approachable.

What book, movie, artist or podcast do you always recommend?

‘BSAVA Textbook of Veterinary Nursing’ 6TH Edition.

Anything else?

My qualifications are L3 Animal Management, L3 Veterinary Nursing, and BSc Hons Animal Behaviour and Welfare.
