Mark Daker, Horticulture Alumni
“Meet Mark Daker, a Askham Bryan College Alum who studied Horticulture from 1987-1988. Today Mark is a Spatial Officer over in South Australia! He has worked in various Horticulture roles since completing his course here at Askham Bryan College, from a horticulturist all the way to having his own landscape design and construction business! One piece of advice Mark would give to new students is ‘Get involved in campus life, it’s an important part of your learning and personal growth and Don’t limit yourself to a single career outcome – your path may take you in unexpected directions.’”
Amelia Hegarty, Animal Management and Canine and Feline Behaviour and Welfare Alumni
“Meet Amelia Hegarty, a University Centre and Askham Bryan College Alum who studied Animal Management and Canine and Feline Behaviour and Welfare from 2017-2023. Today Amelia is a Patient Care Assistant at a Vet Hospital. She said 'University Centre Askham Bryan gave me the knowledge, practical skills and hands on experience which helped me to get in the career I am now. Also having the opportunity to travel to South Africa was the best experience.' One piece of advice Amelia would give to new students is 'Throw yourself into every opportunity, don’t say no because you might be scared and enjoy every minute because it goes really quick.'”
Leonie Allardice, Floristry Alumni
“Meet Leonie Allardice a Askham Bryan College Alum who studied Floristry from 2018-2019. Today Leonie is now a Wedding and Events Florist. She said: "Askham Bryan College gave me the confidence to start my own business and specialise in Weddings and Events. It was great to meet new people on my course and gaining friendships and relationships with classmates and my tutor that have still continued." Her advice for others would be "Enjoy every minute as college life will go very quick and don't shy away from any opportunities that come along in your course." ”

“Meet Eliza Clapham a Askham Bryan College Alum who studied Motorsport. Eliza is a Ex Motorsport Mechanic and now works as a Customer Consultant. She said: "Askham Bryan College allowed me to branch out my skills, allowing me to go to test days and race weekends which was really beneficial." Her advice for others would be "Never give up and never let a no stop you! You need to work hard and make opportunities for yourself." ”
Jack Towler, Conservation and Ecology Alumni
“Meet Jack Towler a University Centre Askham Bryan College Alum who studied Conservation and Ecology from 2021 to 2025! Jack is now a Ecologist! He said: "University Centre Askham Bryan taught me the skills I needed whilst keeping true to industry standards. My best memory of Askham Bryan was being awarded the Principles Award at my graduation and a close second would definitely be the study tours to South Africa." ”
