Helen Spry

What inspired you to pursue a career in your field?

My passion for animal health and welfare and keen interest in dogs and horses was my main inspiration, and I did not want to do a boring admin office job! I like to be practical and hands on.

What do you enjoy most about your role at the college?

I love teaching and helping students develop their knowledge and skills in the veterinary industry.

What is your favourite animal to work with and why?

I love to work with dogs, they are so expressive and loving.

Areas of Interest and Expertise

I have worked in a busy emergency and critical care clinic for 10 years, I love the challenge of not knowing what is coming through the door next and having to think on my feet. I also have a keen interest in transfusion medicine.

What advice would you give to students looking to succeed in your subject area?

My advice is to get as much practical experience in clinic as possible and ask lots of relevant question!.
