Qualification Information

This qualification ensures you meet the legal requirements for a Certificate of Competence, as set out in Council Regulation (EC No. 1/2005) on the protection and welfare of animals during transport.

 

There is no need to attend in person for the learning element of this course. Once you enrol, we will contact you and send the learning materials for your chosen animal(s). When you feel prepared, simply get in touch with the college to book your online assessment. Assessments are scheduled by date and take place at 13:00.

The online assessment will be multiple-choice, and your formal qualification will be the City & Guilds Level 2 Award in the Transport of Animals by Road (Short Journeys). The assessment will take place at Askham Bryan College in York. You can only achieve one Module Per assessment Fee.

Assess fitness to travel
Identify causes and signs of stress in animals
Understand space allowances and stocking densities
Understand handling and animal welfare in transit and post journey

 

Other Important information

City and Guilds will no longer produce physical skills card upon a successful completion of this accreditation. Candidates can expect to receive a digital skills card which they will be able to access through their online portal. The training centre will be unable to send or provide this upon completion. All candidates will also need to provide ID on the day of their assessment as proof of identification. Failure to do this may result in your assessment being suspended.
