Course Information

This course is the ideal starting point for anyone with little or no tractor driving experience. Designed for beginners, it covers the basic operation of a tractor, including pre-start checks, safety inspections, and key health & safety legislation. You’ll gain the fundamental skills and knowledge needed to operate a tractor safely and confidently before progressing to the City & Guilds Tractor Driving and Related Operations course or the PA2 Tractor Spraying qualification.

  • Pre-start checks and learn all the adjustments
  • Health and Safety risks associated with driving a tractor
  • Understanding what your pre-start checks are
  • Carry out your pre-start checks
  • Understand and learn how the tractor should be maneuvered and how different weather conditions must be taken into account
  • Learn how to drive the tractor
  • Leave the tractor safe after use and in a condition suitable for its future use.

Entry Requirements

This course requires no experience of driving a tractor, however is highly recommended if you are interested in doing the City and Guilds Tractor Driving and Related operations course, or City & Guilds Safe Application of Pesticides Using Self Propelled, Mounted, Trailed Horizontal Boom Sprayers (PA2a) to complete this Basic tractor driving course in preparation.
