Nathan Thatcher
Engineering - Course Manager
What inspired you to pursue a career in your field?
Iβve always had a fascination with engineering from a young age and had a great opportunity to do an apprenticeship in my field of choice land-based service engineering. I then qualified and took a different career path and went into fabrication / welding. I gained my welding qualifications and headed on a journey which led me to work offshore in the North Sea.
What do you enjoy most about your role at the college?
I really enjoy passing my knowledge, skills and experiences onto the next generation. I find it really rewarding to watch them achieve everything they want.
Areas of Interest and Expertise
I have a massive interest in all aspects of engineering.
What advice would you give to students looking to succeed in your subject area?
My advice is to study hard and grab every opportunity you can.
If your students had to describe you in three words, what would they say?
Honest, knowledgeable, fun
Why choose an Apprenticeship?
If Iβm honest I donβt know why you wouldnβt do an apprenticeship as you get payed for learning something you love.
