New 3G Pitch Facility

New 3G Football Pitch Coming Soon to Askham Bryan College

A brand-new state-of-the-art 3G football pitch is planned for the York campus of Askham Bryan College, with the facility expected to open early 2027.

Supported through an application to the Football Foundation, which should it be successful, the new development will provide a high-quality football and community sports facility designed to support participation, training, education and grassroots football across York and the surrounding area. The Football Foundation supports the development of FA-approved 3G facilities across England in line with its funding priorities;

• Working with culturally diverse communities
• Engaging people with disabilities or long-term health conditions
• Engaging people from lower socio-economic groups.
• Located at the College’s York campus, the new floodlit all-weather surface will create opportunities for:
• Local grassroots football clubs
• Junior and senior teams
• Community leagues and casual hire
• Coaching sessions and football development programmes
• College sport and academy provision
• Schools and community groups

The facility is being designed to provide a modern, accessible and professional playing environment suitable for year-round use.

A Facility for the Whole Community

The new pitch will strengthen Askham Bryan College’s growing reputation for sport and physical activity, building on its existing sports programmes and academy pathways.

Once open, the pitch will be available for community bookings throughout evenings, weekends and holiday periods, helping to increase access to quality football facilities in the region.
