The City and Guilds L3 programme is our advanced horticulture offer for adult learners. It is aimed at those already employed in a horticulture setting and looking to further develop their skills, or at keen amateur gardeners.

This course is delivered at our York Campus

Dates and Times

Friday (9am-4pm).

This course will commence in the week beginning 15 September 2025 and complete in the week beginning 22 June 2026

The City and Guilds L3 Certificate in Horticulture is aimed at learners who already hold a L2 qualification in horticulture. It will be of interest horticultural professionals, career changers and keen amateurs alike. The qualification allows learners to acquire underpinning scientific knowledge whilst developing the practical skills vital for employment within the horticulture industry.

The course is assessed by a portfolio of evidence, including both practical skills and written assignments, compiled throughout the programme.

Please note that for practical courses, learners are required to provide steel toe-capped safety boots, suitable gloves and clothing appropriate to the weather conditions.

Applicants are expected to have successfully completed a Level 2 qualification in horticulture.
