This qualification offers the essential skills and practical experience needed to progress into employment into animal care, welfare, Zoos/Wildlife establishments and other related industries. This is a part time flexible programme involving hands on skills with some home and independent study.

Key Information

On the course you will study the following*:

  • To promote the health and wellbeing of animals
  • Control and restrain animals
  • Ensuring your actions reduce risks to health and safety
  • Train animals through basic training programmes
  • Implement basic animal training
  • Provide feed and water to animals
  • Maintain and store records within the workplace

Times:

In-Centre: Tuesday and Wednesday’s 10am-4:00pm
Online Lessons: Thursdays 10:00-2:00pm
Home Study: 6 hours per week

Good level of English and Maths

Progression and Development

Level 2 or 3 vocational course in Animal Care, dependent on meeting entry requirements for courses.

For 19+ learners, the course is Free if you meet entitlement requirements. For example- British Citizen/ Residency in the UK for 3 years, unemployed, on benefits or a low income. If none of these apply, a fee will be charged.
