Key Information
Gain hands-on experience in our labs and through our digital resources, youโll investigate simulated crime scenes, collect and analyse evidence, and learn how forensic science supports the criminal justice system. Our cutting-edge technology and expert-led sessions enable you to construct crime scenes in virtual reality giving the you the skills to unravel and problem solve through crime scene modelling giving you the the skills that modern employers and universities are looking for.

You will typically attend college for 3 to 4 days per week, alongside independent study. In addition, you may undertake a work placement or work-related activity to support your understanding of the industry. Full details of your timetable and any placement requirements will be confirmed by your Course Manager.
During the course, you will be assessed through a combination of external examinations and internally assessed coursework. Four units are externally assessed through exams. All other units are assessed internally through coursework, including written reports, case studies, presentations and practical investigations, allowing you to demonstrate both theoretical knowledge and applied skills.

Alternatively a suitable Level 2 vocational qualification (Merit or above) with English, Maths and Science at Level 2.
On successful completion of the course, you may progress to higher education in areas such as Forensic Science, Criminology, Policing or Psychology. You may also progress into apprenticeships or entry-level roles within related sectors. Specific progression requirements, including English and Maths, will be discussed with you during your programme to support your next steps.
Progression and Development Sessions
All students enrolled on a Level 2 or Level 3 course will be required to attend Progression and Development sessions every week. These sessions will cover a wide range of topics from careers and employability, British Values and equality and diversity to essential life skills such as mental health and wellbeing, drugs and alcohol and personal safety.
Students are expected to buy PPE, consisting of overalls and steel toe capped boots for practical sessions. A normal range of stationery is required for theory sessions.
Trip costs are kept to a minimum wherever possible, trip information will be provided at the start of the course.
