Student Stories

Alex T-Level Animal Management (Behaviour Pathway)

β€œI really enjoy this course as we get a lot of hands-on experience with the practical's, the teachers are amazing, the environment of learning is really nice and it's just great being able to just work hands on with all the animals here. ”

Ben Level 2 Land-Based Service Engineer (Apprenticeship)

β€œI chose to do a apprenticeship because it allows me to have an income and have a bit more freedom with my life while still learning a trade and being in a professional working environment. It allows me to further my social skills as well as team building activities and also my solo work when I’m out doing jobs by myself.”

Eleanor T Level: Agriculture (Livestock)

β€œI chose to do this course as it incorporates both practical and theory elements, and it also means I get to go on work placement. I get to see different livestock compared to just at the college as I enjoy working with a variety of animals.”

FAQs

  • What is the difference between further education and higher education?

Further education refers to education following the completion of GCSEs. For most students, this is education after year 11, but before university. The majority of further education students are between the ages of 16-19 years old, which is why further education is sometimes referred to as education for school leavers.

Common forms of further education include T-Levels, A-Levels, or a Level 3 course or apprenticeship.

Higher education typically refers to education and qualifications beyond further education, typically offered by a university. Common forms of higher education include an FdSc (Foundation Degrees or BSc (Bachelor of Science)

  • What is the deadline for applying for further education courses for the next academic year?

Our academic year starts in September. We recommend applying for your desired course in the year leading up to the start of the following academic year in September for your best chance of securing a spot. Applications for courses that have commenced at the start of the academic year will be considered if there are places remaining on the course.

  • Can I study a further education course even if I am over the age of 19?

Yes. Our further education study options are available to all individuals who meet the entry requirements, regardless of age or education background. Students aged 19 or over may be required to pay for their further education study, although our advanced learner loan is available for eligible 19+ students.

We also offer short courses and skill training opportunities, which may be more suitable for those over 19 who are looking to boost their employability or learn a new skill.
