Interview Information

If you've been invited to an interview for your course here is the information you'll need in advance.

What You Need to Bring to Interview

If they are available, please bring with you the originals, together with two photocopies of any certificates or qualifications, or any other documents and results you have in support of your application. If these are not yet available please be aware that we will need to see them before enrolment onto your chosen course.

Please see the Consent to Process Sensitive Data - Student Admissions form below, please print a copy and complete in advance of your interview and bring this with you. In order for Askham Bryan College to meet its responsibilities for the health, welfare and safety of all students and staff, you are required to complete and return the form when you accept your interview date. If you are under 18, your parent or guardian will need to sign it.

It is important to note that we will not be able to go ahead with your interview unless we receive the completed form. The contents of this form will be discussed at your interview.

Please confirm your attendance by accepting the interview via UCAS. If you are unable to attend this date, please request another date via UCAS and you will be booked onto the next available slot.

Askham Bryan College is a working college and as part of your interview you may be given a tour of your chosen curriculum area. It is, therefore, advisable that you and any guests wear practical footwear.

Foundation Degree in Veterinary Nursing Interviews

Our veterinary nursing courses are very popular and students undertake an assessment of skills as part of their interview.

Please bring to interview :

  • The original GCSE certificates to show you have at least 5 GCSEs at grade C or above. Please ensure these include English, Maths and Science, or suggested equivalents, ie National Diploma, NVQ Level 2 or Key skills (where applicable).
  • A level, Level 3 Diploma or other evidence of UCAS points if available
  • A reference from any current or recent employer
  • A reference from your work experience provider that is related to your chosen industry (if not available, a letter confirming intended date of completion)
  • Letter of confirmation if a relevant work placement has been secured.
  • A copy of your birth certificate and photographic ID (e.g. driving licence or passport)
  • Evidence of change of name (if applicable)

There will be an assessment component at interview to include dexterity and numeracy.

(If any of the documents listed  above are unavailable, you can still accept the interview and attend; although we will require this information before an offer can be made.)

 

Equine Degree Interviews 

For all courses involving horse riding modules, entry is subject to an evaluation of your riding ability and fitness levels. It is usual that we have a weight limit of 16 stone for these elements of the course.

For Equine Sports Management interviewees only:

Please bring with you an British Kite-marked riding hat, jodhpurs / breeches, boots (long or short), body protector and gloves. If you do not have these items please contact us before your interview day. You will be expected to ride two horses on the flat and jump over some small fences.

For other Equine Degree Programmes:

If you have been invited for an equine programme other than FdSc Sports Management, you will not be required to undertake a riding assessment at interview.

Please confirm your attendance via UCAS, by ‘accepting’ the interview. If you are unable to attend this date please reply on UCAS by ‘requesting another interview date’ and we will book you into the next available slot.
