Askham Bryan College and University Centre launch impactful three-year strategy plan

Askham Bryan College and University Centre have launched their new Strategic Plan for 2026-2029, with a vision to continue delivering immersive and inspiring education that supports the economic and environmental ambitions of the region.
An event held at the college on Tuesday 21st April saw over a hundred guests attend from a variety of backgrounds, including representatives from all higher and further education establishments in York, local businesses that support their students in their studies, stakeholders, current and previous staff members, Governors and local dignitaries. David Skaith, the Mayor of York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority, also kindly attended.
Guests were welcomed by Dr Tim Whitaker, Principal and CEO of Askham Bryan College, who presented the college’s Vision and three year Strategic Plan to the audience.
David Skaith also thanked attendees for their presence, expressing how he looks forward to seeing how the college’s strategy will shape our students’ futures, driving skills development within the region.
Alex Payne, CEO of LANDEX, was in attendance and kindly spoke about the pivotal importance of land based colleges, regionally and nationally.
Other guest speakers included Graeme Osborn, Chair of Askham Bryan College Corporation.
Askham Bryan College, an established land based institution providing education from entry level to degrees, aims to continue to deliver future-focused immersive education that inspires students and apprentices to achieve, thriving in a highly inclusive environment.
This is set to enforce a supportive environment for both economic and environmental ambitions for their region and beyond.
The College’s three priorities are to:

- Sustainably grow their income
- Develop their people and culture
Dr Tim Whitaker voiced what this new strategy means for the college: “This strategy is rooted in our shared belief in what Askham Bryan stands for: high quality education and training, inclusion, our people, our place and the difference we make. By working together with passion, expertise and care, we will create the very best outcomes and life changing opportunities for our students, now and in the future.”
