Askham Bryan College to host Horticultural careers event organised by The Chartered Institute of Horticulture (CIH)

Askham Bryan College is set to host a horticultural careers conference organised by the Chartered Institute of Horticulture (CIH) to helpΒ inspire and connect the next generation of industry professionals in York.

The event, called Grow North, will take place on Wednesday, November 19, at Askham Bryan College in York.

The event targets students, early-career horticulturists, and career changers.

Helena Glassup, chairwoman of CIH’s northern branch, said: “Grow North is all about showcasing the remarkable diversity of horticultural careers available, and this year we are focusing on the new skills required to keep up with technological developments in the industry.

“Participants will be able to learn more about robotic equipment, sustainable design, dealing with emerging pest problems, and caring for historic trees.”

Attendees will hear from inspirational speakers, take part in practical workshops, watch demonstrations, and meet employers, industry bodies and trade partners.

Among confirmed speakers are plant influencer and author Michael Perry, known as Mr Plant Geek, and garden designer Jason Williams, also known as Cloud Gardener.

The full programme and registration details are available at horticulture.org.uk.
