What inspired you to pursue a career in your field?
I pursued this career to make a difference, enhancing the employment opportunities of my students and trumpeting the role of gamekeepers and land managers in the pragmatic and important conservation of our countryside.
What do you enjoy most about your role at the college?
I enjoy teaching, and being with my students in the class and in the field.
Areas of Interest and Expertise
My areas of interest and expertise are working dogs, lurchers and especially terriers , conservation , geomorphology and palaeontology.
What is your favourite farm animal and why?
My favourite animal is the badger as they’re a determined digger with a cuddle factor and big teeth.
What advice would you give to students looking to succeed in your subject area?
My advice is to get into the field, do some beating, help out on estates and get as many industry tickets as you can.
If your students had to describe you in three words, what would they say?
Irish, passionate, sometimes angry!
What book, movie, artist or podcast do you always recommend?
I always recommend Marcus Aurelius.

I have an MPhil in Geomorphology.
