What inspired you to pursue a career in your field?

I completed my degree here at Askham Bryan College and I loved my experience and the support my tutors gave me and wanted to do the same for others.

What do you enjoy most about your role at the college?

I enjoy listening to my staff discuss the incredible lessons they have carried out with students and the joy it brings them knowing the students are succeeding.

What is your favourite animal and why?

I love Orca because they are majestic, sentient animals that are incredible!

Areas of Interest and Expertise

Exotic and zoo based expertise – elements such as enclosure design are a particular interest and expertise of mine.

What advice would you give to students looking to succeed in your subject area?

If you have a passion for animals and are willing to work hard, engage with staff and other students then you will get there. Just let us help you!

What book, movie, artist or podcast do you always recommend?

I do enjoy crime thrillers so anything like this I would recommend, but if you haven’t seen ‘Slow Horses’ this is one to watch!

If your students had to describe you in three words, what would they say?

Approachable, problem solver and always honest!

I manage the best Animal Management Team in the country (in my humble opinion).
