Kelly Crowther
Animal Keeper
What do you enjoy most about your role at the college?
I love nature and being outdoors, and I enjoy the variety of my role. I have the privilege of being up close and personal with all the farm animals and experiencing the joys that come with it. Spring lambs and sunsets on the heritage farm are always worth the hard days.
Areas of Interest and Expertise
My main focus recently has been rare and native breeds and how we can conserve them. I also have an interest in wellness and how nature and our environment can support our health.
What advice would you give to students looking to succeed in your subject area?
My advice is to put yourselves out there. Volunteer. Keep learning. There’s no such thing a silly question so be brave and ask all the things.
What book, movie, artist or podcast do you always recommend?
I am obsessed with podcasts and have listened to hundreds. I will always recommend listening to, or reading, anything by Brene Brown.
If your students had to describe you in three words, what would they say?
I would hope – understanding, kind, fair!
What is your favourite animal and why?
My favourite animal is our alpaca Hugo, because I’ve nursed him through a lot and it bonded us.
